The Hebrew Priestess Institute Mission Statement
Kohenet: The Hebrew Priestess Institute works to revitalize the Jewish connection
with the Divine feminine and to reclaim the ancient role of women as facilitators
of sacred experience. Through its programs and resources, Kohenet advocates
and nurtures embodied Jewish spiritual leadership, creativity, and community
from an earth-honoring, feminist perspective. Drawing on midrashic and mystical
teachings from the Jewish tradition, Near Eastern myth, and women’s wisdom
across the generations, Kohenet reclaims and innovates uniquely feminine models
of Jewish spiritual leadership.
- Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Training
Intensive is a program cultivating spiritual creativity and
leadership for women on a priestess path. The initial two-year training
focuses on ritual, myth, midrash, and spiritual journeying as well as Shabbat
and festivals. The two-year advanced training focuses on creative projects,
deeper learning, and spiritual facilitation skills, leading to ordination
as a priestess in the Kohenet tradition.
- Kohenet Network connects individuals and groups who are
developing similar models of Jewish earth-based spiritual practice and leadership,
fostering shared community and meaningful dialogue on-line and in person.
- Kohenet Resources supports the understanding and practice
of Hebrew priestessing and of an earth-honoring, feminist Judaism through
creating liturgy, commentary, and other materials in print and on-line formats.
- Kohenet also hopes to help sponsor spiritual initiatives for men seeking earth-honoring, egalitarian models of Jewish Spiritual leadership.
